‎”I Knew My Marriage Would End Before It Even Began” – Bashir El-Rufai’s Ex-Wife Halima Opens Up On Life After Divorce

‎Halima Nwakaego Kazaure has opened up about her life, single parenting, business ventures, finding love again, heartbreak and her attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) after her divorce from Bashir El-Rufai.

‎Bashir, the son of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and Halima, daughter of former Senator from Jigawa State, Ibrahim Kazaure, got married in 2020.

‎They welcomed a set of twins, two boys, the following year.

‎Bashir announced the end of his marriage to Halima, citing “Gen Z wahala”

‎He later tendered a public apology over the way he announced the end of his marriage.

‎In a post published on her Substack, Memoirs of a Single Nigerian Twin Mum with ADHD, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, she revealed that her marriage ended in July 2024, when their sons were two.

‎The mother of two shared that she fell in love with another man months after the divorce, but it ended in heartbreak.

‎“There is a saying that men will stain your white,” she wrote.

‎Halima admitted she never had much faith in marriage and knew hers would end before it even began because she grew up believing men are safe places.

‎”Imagine entering a marriage already preparing for its funeral,” she wrote.

‎She compared her love for white clothing, despite constant stains, to her deep faith in love alongside her scepticism of men.

‎“For someone with so little faith in men, I have a ridiculous amount of faith in love,” she added.
