Media aide to Davido, Israel DMW, has reacted to the viral video of a young lady addressing Tony Elumelu by his first name.
In the video, Tony was captured at a public event when a young lady, who appeared to be a graduate Trainee of UBA Banking School, stood up to ask a question, addressing him by his first name, “Tony”, which didn’t sit well with him.
Tony immediately corrected her, saying she couldn’t address him that way. Elumelu told her to address him as “Chairman” or “Mr Elumelu”. He added that he doesn’t subscribe to that kind of oyinbo life.
Commenting on it, Israel said her behaviour is an effect of being an online university graduate, lipstick, eyelashes, TikTok, Gen Z shit and lack of home training.
“Can you just imagine? Effects of online university graduate, lipstick, eyelashes, TikTok, Gen Z shit, and lack of home training”.
Since the video surfaced online, there have been mixed feelings on the issue. While some netizens are blaming the lady for addressing the business mogul by his first name instead of showing some respect, some are also saying that it is a practice in some corporate firms to address people by their first name.
