Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday held talks with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission(AU), Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, on regional developments and efforts to strengthen peace, dialogue and stability across Africa.
The meeting, disclosed in a statement by the African Union, centred on key issues affecting the continent and broader matters of continental interest.
According to the AU, Youssouf praised Obasanjo for his continued commitment to conflict resolution and mediation efforts across Africa.

“The Chairperson commended President Obasanjo’s continued engagement in support of peace, dialogue and stability across the continent,” the statement said.
The discussions also provided an opportunity for both leaders to exchange views on evolving regional developments and other issues of shared concern.
“The two leaders exchanged views on key regional developments and other issues of continental interest,” the AU added.

Obasanjo currently serves as the African Union High Representative, a role he was first appointed to in August 2021 and was later reappointed to continue supporting the continental body’s peace and mediation initiatives in conflict-affected regions.
