Kwara Guber: APC Candidate’s Largest Votes Will Come From Women – Ex-Commissioner

A former commissioner for Women Affairs in Kwara State, Hon. Mopelola Abdulmalik-Bashir, has said that women in Kwara will deliver 100 per cent of their votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

She also said the APC’s governorship candidate, Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, would receive the largest share of the vote in Ilorin (Kwara Central).

Abdulmalik-Bashir spoke at the Kwara Central Women’s Support for SYD’s event in Ilorin, where women from the senatorial zone mobilised support for the APC candidate.

She described Danladi- Salihu’s emergence as a historic demonstration of inclusion and a continuation of the political understanding that produced the “Otoge Movement”.

She noted that the 2027 elections present an opportunity to consolidate the gains of “Otoge ” by strengthening inclusion, trust and political cooperation across the state.

“Kwara North stood with Otoge. They worked for it, sacrificed for it and voted for it. Today, that commitment is being recognised by allowing Kwara North to lead. That is inclusion in practical terms,” she said.

Abdulmalik-Bashir said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had demonstrated political courage by supporting an arrangement that gave Kwara North a credible opportunity to produce the next governor of the state.

She stressed that the development should not be viewed through an ethnic or sectional lens, adding that: “Otoge was never about one person or one part of Kwara. It was bout changing a political order. If the political order has changed, then every part of Kwara must be able to aspire to lead.”

“Danladi’s largest votes will come from Ilorin. Ilori understands what inclusion means. Ilori will stand with Kwara north, just as Kwara north stood with the broader Otoge project,” she declared.

She described women as a decisive force in Kwara politics, noting their numerical strength, grassroots networks, and influence across communities.

Abdulmalik-Bashir expressed confidence that the combination of the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration’s record, APC’s structure, the support of Kwara women, and Danladi’s emergence would give the party a strong platform ahead of 2027.
