Minister Inaugurates Cold Chain Facility, Others In Adamawa

Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar, has inaugurated a 40 million dose capacity cold chain facility, artificial insemination centre and cattle quarantine station in Adamawa State.

Mukhtar said the projects in partnership with Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) are located in Adamawa State University, Mubi, the cold chain facility in Jambutu and the animal quarantine centre stationed in Maiha LGA to ensure animal imported were certified healthy
He said the establishment of ministries for livestock development in 21 states confirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision to unlock agricultural potential for food security and rural development.

He said, “States have the right to choose what value chain they want to develop as the federal government is not going to impose any on state.”

The minister listed the cnstruction of nine boreholes, donation of a tractor, rehabilitation of micro earth dams and the proposed supply of solar-powered pumps for dry season pasture cultivation at Gongoshi Grazing Reserve as some of the achievements of the partnership between Adamawa and the federel government.

He reitrated his ministry’s commitment to partnering with some national and private sectors in creating the enabling environment to explore oppprtunities in the livestock sector.

Earlier, the state Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta said government would continue investing resources in the livestock sub sector for food security, job creation and rural development.

She commended president Bola Ahmed Tinibu’s led federal government for its interventions in the livestock sub sector considering its economical and other benefits.

She stated that the state will continue to partner the federal government in its quest to develop the livestock value chains, saying it will channel the needed resources in that regard.
