The police in Kebbi State have recovered large quantity of electrical equipment stolen by vandals in Bunza local government area.
The police command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, who confirmed the development in a statement he issued to journalists yesterday, said the recovery of the items was made on August 25 during an operation in the Kara area of Bunza Town.
Usman said the operation was prompted by complaints and concerns over the persistent vandalism of electrical equipment in the area.
He said vandalism had forced many communities into darkness and destruption of supply of electricity to residents.
The police said the police operatives recovered 10 bundles and seven sacks of stolen electrical cables from the vandals.
He said a suspect, one Mustapha Abubakar was arrested and arraigned before the court while investigation continued.The commissioner of police, Umar Muhammad Hadejia, has commended the efforts of police personnel in the recovery and assured that his command would continue to protect critical national assets and the arrest of vandals across the state.
