JAMB Extends Deadline For Acceptance, Rejection Of Old Admission Offers

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates offered admission from 2021 to date to either accept or reject their outstanding admission offers on or before 30 September 2026 in order to regularise the status of their admissions.

The Board had earlier fixed Monday, 31 August 2026 as the deadline for all candidates offered admission from 2021 to date to indicate whether they wished to accept or reject their offers.

However, in a statement announced by the Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin on Saturday, JAMB said the extension was being granted to enable candidates with outstanding admission offers to take the necessary action before the final deadline.

The Board advised candidates whose admission offers, whether regular or through the Centralised University and Institution Admission (CUIIA) process, remain pending to accept or reject them before 30 September.

“Candidates with pending admission offers who have not yet accepted or rejected such offers are strongly advised to do so before 30 September 2026,” the Board said.

JAMB warned candidates against waiting until the last day, stressing that failure to act within the stipulated period would have consequences for the status of their admissions.

According to the Board, candidates who accept their admission offers will be able to proceed to print and obtain their admission letters.

On the other hand, candidates who reject their offers will have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted.”

This, JAMB said, would enable it to update its records and ensure that the national admission database accurately reflects the current status of candidates.

The Board also clarified the position of candidates who are no longer studying at the institution where they were previously offered admission or who are currently enrolled in a different programme.

It said such candidates could accept the outstanding admission offer and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the admission, where applicable.

“This will enable the Board to appropriately update the candidate’s admission status and records,” JAMB explained.

Similarly, candidates currently pursuing a second degree but who still have an earlier admission offer that remains unaccepted may reject the outstanding offer and continue with their current programme.

JAMB also moved to reassure candidates who have been offered admission in the 2026 admission exercise but still have an earlier admission offer pending, saying such candidates should not be apprehensive, as they could reject the previous admission offer without affecting their 2026 admission.

“Candidates who have been offered admission in the 2026 admission exercise but still have a previous admission offer pending should not be apprehensive. Such candidates may reject the previous admission offer, and doing so will have no adverse effect whatsoever on their 2026 admission.”

JAMB said the extension was intended to provide all affected candidates with one final opportunity to clearly indicate whether they wished to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers.
