Taraba Govt Distributes Relief Materials To Displaced Persons In Ibi

In an effort to cushion the hardship confronting displaced families, the Taraba State government has distributed food and essential household items to internally displaced persons currently taking refuge in Ibi local government area of the state.

The intervention, carried out through the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA), was to address the immediate humanitarian needs of the displaced persons and strengthen government support for vulnerable communities affected by the displacement.

Items distributed included rice, beans, garri, maize, salt, spaghetti, seasoning cubes, tomato paste, vegetable oil, blankets, mats, mosquito nets and brocade.

Executive Secretary of TSEMA, Dr. Echuseh Audu, said the agency remained committed to ensuring that internally displaced persons were not left to cope with their challenges alone.

Dr. Audu, who spoke through Mr. Kitchener Marcel, during the distribution exercise, assured the beneficiaries of the state government’s continued commitment to their welfare.

She stressed that humanitarian assistance remained a priority in responding to the needs of vulnerable citizens.

She said TSEMA would continue to collaborate with local authorities and other relevant stakeholders to identify and respond to the needs of displaced persons across the state.

The distribution exercise was witnessed by the Executive Chairman of Ibi Local Government Area, Hon. Emmanuel Joshua Ubandoma among other community leaders.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Laraba Musa expressed appreciation to Governor Agbu Kefas and the intervention agency for the relief.
