10 Corps Members Rescued From Kidnappers’ Den In Kogi Forest

Ten corps members kidnapped by gunmen have been rescued from the Egume Forest in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State by a joint security operation involving the police, military, Department of State Services (DSS) and other auxiliary forces.

The Kogi State Police Command, in a statement issued by its spokesman, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, yesterday, said the victims were rescued following a sustained, coordinated and intelligence-driven operation.

The Command said the operation was still ongoing, with security forces intensifying efforts to locate and rescue other victims believed to be held by the kidnappers.

According to the statement, the operation is also aimed at dismantling criminal elements operating in the area and bringing those responsible for the abduction to justice.

The commissioner of police commended personnel of the police, military, DSS and other supporting forces for their gallantry, professionalism and resilience in the operation.

He also appreciated residents of the affected communities for providing timely and credible information, which he said remained critical to the success of the operation.

The Command urged members of the public to remain calm and vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or information that could assist security agencies in rescuing the remaining victims and apprehending the perpetrators.

It assured residents that all available operational resources were being deployed to secure the safe recovery of the remaining victims.

The Command said further updates would be provided as operational circumstances permit.
