NIS Deploys Passport Intervention Team To UK, Targets 4 UK Cities

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the deployment of a Passport Intervention Team from its headquarters in Abuja to the United Kingdom to provide passport services to Nigerians in London, Manchester, Aberdeen and Cardiff.

The exercise, directed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, will run from September 7 to 26, 2026, following consultations with the Nigerian High Commission and representatives of Nigerian communities in the UK.

This information was contained in a statement by the national spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service ( NIS) DCI Akinsola Akinlabi.

According to the NIS, the intervention will take place in London and Manchester from September 7 to 19, before moving to Aberdeen and Cardiff from September 21 to 26.

The statement added that eligible Nigerians in the affected cities and surrounding areas will be able to use the exercise to apply for new passports, renew existing passports and resolve pending passport applications.

Applicants are required to complete their applications and make payments through the Passport Application Portal before visiting their selected venue.

They must also present their completed application form, payment slip, appointment slip and a self-addressed return envelope. Applicants renewing their passports are required to bring their current passport.

The NIS warned that applicants who arrive with cash will not be attended to.

The Service further stated that its digital passport application channels, including the contactless Passport Application System, remain operational. Home delivery is also available to applicants.
