Woman Gives Birth To Quadruplets In Yobe

A 24-year-old woman, Hajara Ahmadu, has given birth to quadruplets at the Potiskum Specialist Hospital in Potiskum local government area of Yobe State. Hajara, a resident of Potiskum, who was delivered of the four babies on Saturday, is currently receiving medical attention alongside the newborns at the hospital.

The mother expressed happiness over the birth but appealed to the government and well-meaning Nigerians to assist her family in caring for the four babies. Hajara said she had previously given birth but lost the child.

“I have given birth before, but unfortunately, the child died. I am happy that I have now given birth to four children, and I am appealing to the government to assist my family,” she said.

Her husband, Ahmadu Musa Abdullahi, a commercial driver, also appealed for assistance, saying his income was insufficient to meet the financial demands of caring for the newborns and their mother.

Abdullahi appealed to the government and individuals to support the family with the resources needed to care for the mother and the the babies.

Responding to the appeal, the director of Search and Rescue Operations at the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA), Dr Ibrahim Muhammad Jalo, said the agency would intervene to support the family.

Jalo said YOSEMA would assess the situation and identify the immediate needs of the mother and her babies before providing the necessary assistance.

“We are going to provide the much-needed help. We will look into the situation and see how we can support the family, particularly the mother and the four babies,” he said. He added that YOSEMA remained committed to supporting vulnerable residents in need of emergency assistance.
