Flash Flood Kills Kaduna Teenager

A flash flood that hit Asikolaye and Tundun Wada communities in Kaduna North local government area of Kaduna State has killed a teenage boy.

The flood followed the heavy downpour of Sunday evening which temporary prevented some residents from gaining access to their houses.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP on the incident yesterday, Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA’s) spokesperson, Dominic Philip, confirmed that a teenager lost his life while trying to cross a stream in the area.

KADSEMA said the flood was caused by the blockage of drainages in the affected areas. “There was a flash flood incident in Askolayi and Tundun Wada areas. We had the flash flood that receded between one and two hours. One teenager died in Asikolaye. He was drowned while trying to cross the stream in the area.

“The water level has increased. The flash flood in the Askolayi receded after one hour. In Tudun Wada around Polytechnic gates, that flash flood too receded after one or two hours. I am sure the flood was caused by the blockage of drainages which affected the waterways,” Philip said.
