Kefas Bags Daily Times Award

One of the country’s oldest newspaper institutions, Daily Times  Nigeria, has named Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, as the most Outstanding Governor in the North East region.

Governor Kefas emerged as one of six governors honoured across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones, in commemoration of the newspaper’s 100th anniversary celebration.

The centenary celebration was held on Thursday at the ThisDay Dome, Central Business District, Abuja.

According to the organisers, the award was in recognition of the governor’s leadership and contributions to the development of Taraba State.

The governor was represented at the ceremony by the Commissioner for Information and Re-orientation, Zainab Jalingo, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Jeji Williams, who received the award on his behalf.

The event featured a centenary conference, the unveiling of the Nigeria Grand Book and the Times Heroes Awards, which recognised individuals and institutions considered to have made significant contributions to Nigeria’s development.

Other governors honoured alongside Kefas were Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma, Akwa Ibom State governor, Umo Eno, Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah, Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal and Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule.

The centenary celebration also recognised prominent Nigerians, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, business mogul Aliko Dangote and former African Development Bank President, Dr Akinwumi Adesina.

The latest recognition added to the growing list of honours received by the Taraba governor in recent times in areas of education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, youth development and other sectors.
