Kaduna Police Recover 10 Guns, 2 Stolen Vehicles, 332 Suspected Fake Dollars

The Kaduna State Police Command has recovered nine fabricated firearms, one pump-action rifle, two stolen vehicles and 332 pieces of suspected counterfeit $100 notes in separate operations across the state.

The Command also arrested four suspects in connection with the recovery of the stolen vehicles and suspected counterfeit currencies, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects allegedly linked to the crimes.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement saying the operations were part of sustained efforts to deny criminals freedom of movement and ensure that farmers have access to their farmlands across the state.

According to Hassan, on August 31, 2026, at about 10am, the police received information that armed bandits were disturbing farmers in the Kidandan area of Giwa Local Government Area.

He said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Kidandan, immediately mobilised personnel of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) attached to APV Kaya, alongside members of the Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS), to the area.

Hassan said the bandits opened fire on sighting the security personnel, who responded and forced them to flee into the surrounding bush.

In another operation, police operatives, acting on credible intelligence about the movement of suspected gunrunners around the Maraban Jos axis, mounted roadblocks along access routes in the area.

Hassan said the heavy security presence forced some of the suspects to divert their vehicles, while others fled into the bush, abandoning nine fabricated firearms.

Similarly, on September 2, 2026, at about 6:30am, police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, arrested three suspects at Panteka, Kurmin Mashi, Kaduna.

In a separate operation, police arrested one Kabir Yusuf of India Road, Barnawa, Kaduna, over alleged possession of counterfeit US currency.

The Command said intelligence had indicated that Yusuf was in possession of 20 pieces of suspected counterfeit $100 notes.

According to Hassan, a search conducted on him led to the recovery of 332 pieces of suspected counterfeit US dollar notes and six pieces of counterfeit N1,000 notes.

The Command said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the alleged accomplice and uncover the wider network behind the circulation of the suspected counterfeit currencies.
