The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested four suspected illicit drug dealers during a covert operation in Gaida, Kumbotso local government area of the state.
The suspects Abubakar Abdullahi, 35, Rabiu Baffa, 25, Aminu Lawan, 35, and Ibrahim Idris, 33, were apprehended by operatives of the Corps’ Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Dorayi Babba, following credible intelligence.
Items recovered from the suspects include four sachets of Pregabalin 300mg capsules (PG), dozens of Diazepam tablets (Fara), three tubes of Oshin Solution (Sholisho), three big packs and 20 parcels of suspected marijuana.
The state commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama, warned youths against the sale, distribution and abuse of illicit drugs, describing drug abuse as a major threat to public safety and the wellbeing of society.
Agalama said the suspects and recovered exhibits would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Command, after preliminary investigation by the corps, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to collaborating with sister security agencies and other stakeholders to combat drug-related offences and activities capable of threatening peace and security in Kano State.
The Commandant also urged members of the public to provide security agencies with credible information on suspected illicit drug activities, assuring informants of confidentiality.
