Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr Kingsley Udeh (SAN), has promised not to disappoint Nigerians in his efforts to transform the country’s science and technology sector.
Udeh made the commitment while responding to an Award of Excellence conferred on him by the Global Initiative for Women in Leadership (GIFWIL) in recognition of his contributions to youth empowerment, innovation and national development.
The minister thanked GIFWIL and members of the public for noticing and recognising his efforts in the sector, assuring Nigerians that he would do his best to address the challenges facing the development of science and technology in the country.
He said the confidence reposed in him by Nigerians would spur him to work harder to deliver meaningful transformation in the sector.
Earlier, the founder of GIFWIL, Lady Sarah Umahi, had congratulated Udeh on his nomination for the award, describing his commitment to youth empowerment, innovation-led growth and the use of science and technology as catalysts for national transformation as noteworthy.
In a letter titled “Letter of Congratulations and Notification of Award of Excellence,” Umahi, on behalf of the GIFWIL Board of Directors, said Udeh had demonstrated leadership and vision in advancing Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem.
She said the award was in recognition of his “sterling leadership qualities, impactful service to the nation, and remarkable contribution to youth and innovation development.”
Umahi said the minister was being honoured with the Award of Excellence for Youth Empowerment and Innovation Development.
According to her, the award celebrates leaders committed to building a better future for Nigerian youths through innovation, creativity and sustainable development.
She added that the award would be formally presented to Udeh in his office by members of the GIFWIL Board of Directors after receiving his approval.
