Nollywood actor, Afeez Oyetoro has disclosed why he turned down a ₦7.5 million offer from a betting company in 1999.
In a recent interview, the actor disclosed that the offer was eye-catching, but he turned it down because it involved promoting gambling.
Afeez Oyetoro Turns Down Betting Offer
At the time, he was deeply religious and worked as a teacher who cautioned his students against betting, smoking, and drinking alcohol.
However, that wasn’t the end, as the same agent who brought the betting deal later offered him a ₦5 million job for six months.
According to the actor, the contract involved touring around the country, with the company covering his feeding and accommodation expenses.
Eventually, he was handed the money at the end of the contract.
”It’s a six months contract. e moved round the company. After I finished, the handed over the money to me“, He added.
Afeez Oyetoro’s Biography
Afeez Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, is a Nigerian comic actor, lecturer and scholar.
He was born on August 20, 1963, in Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State, southwestern Nigeria. He is the fifth of eight children born to Pa Oyetoro.
Educational Background
He had his Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and his Master’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Ibadan.
He rose to national prominence in 2013 when he starred in an MTN commercial where he popularized the phrase “I don port o” to promote the mobile number porting service.
