‎Atiku Blames APC For Nigeria’s Economic Decline ‎

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has blamed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for what he described as Nigeria’s economic decline.

‎Atiku spoke on Thursday in Akure during a reception for former Ondo State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede, who recently joined the ADC.

‎Atiku said Nigeria was the largest economy in Africa during the period between 1999 and 2007, but had now dropped to the fifth position, blaming the APC for the development.

‎“We took Nigeria to be the first economy in Africa. Today we are number five. Who are responsible for taking us down? Is it not APC? Then the best thing is for us to vote them out,” he said.

‎He also promised that an ADC administration would restore fuel subsidy, saying the party would return to explain its plans to Nigerians.

‎“We are not here to campaign but to welcome our brother to ADC. When we come back, we will tell you what we have for you and your generation to come and we have been doing that. We are going to restore subsidy,” Atiku said.

‎The former vice president also pledged to restore security across the country, assuring that no part of Nigeria would feel insecure.

‎“Secondly, we are committed to restoring security all over this country. No part of this country will feel insecure anymore. Of course, you know what we did between 1999 and 2007,” he said.

‎Atiku further urged Nigerians to support the call for a change of government, saying, “Tinubu must go.”

‎He cited the recent Osun State election as an example of the importance of massive voter turnout and protection of votes, urging Ondo voters to ensure that their votes were protected in future elections.

‎Atiku described Jegede’s entry into the ADC as a welcome development, saying they had always been together politically, while expressing delight at the support enjoyed by the former governorship candidate in Ondo State.
