Peter Obi Is Not Godfather To Soludo’s Children — Anambra First Lady Clarifies

The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr Nonye Soludo, has clarified that former governor of the state, Peter Obi, is not the godfather of any of her children.

The clarification followed the circulation of a video in which Obi was quoted as saying that he and his wife were godparents to the children of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

In a statement issued by her media assistant, Dan Ezeigwe, the First Lady said the claim, as presented, was false.

For the avoidance of doubt, the statement said, Obi was not a godfather to any of the children of Professor Chukwuma and Dr Nonye Soludo.

It explained that Nonye Soludo is the confirmation godmother to Obi’s daughter, while Margaret Obi, wife of the former governor, is the baptismal godmother to one of Soludo’s daughters.

“Neither Mr Obi nor Professor Soludo has served as a godparent to the other’s children,” the statement said.

The First Lady’s media aide, however, said Obi may have misspoken while making the remarks.

He said the clarification became necessary following the widespread circulation of the video and enquiries from members of the public.

According to the statement, the relationship between the two families remains cordial, adding that there was no need to misrepresent the nature of their relationship.

It urged members of the public and the media to take note of the clarification and disregard any impression that Obi is the godfather of any of Soludo’s children.
