Kebbi Loses 2 Traditional Rulers

Two traditional rulers in Kebbi State have died after brief illnesses.

The district head of Gwandu who was the Sarkin Gabas of Gwandu died in Birnin Kebbi on Sept 23 at the age of 61 after a brief illness.

His remains were taken to Gwandu town where he was buried according to Islamic rites.

Similarly, on Sept 25, the district head of Diggi in Kalgo local government area of the state, Abubakar Atiku Mohammed Diggi, died in Birnin Kebbi metropolis at the age of 70 after a brief illness.

He was buried in Birnin Kebbi main cemetery after a funeral prayer conducted at the Emir of Gwandu’s palace mosque alongside  many traditional rulers and retired civil servants and politicians.

Governor Nasir Idris has condoled the families and people of Gwandu and Diggi districts as well as the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammad Iiyasu Bashar over the losses.

He described the two district heads as  complete gentlemen and respected traditional rulers who contributed a lot to the development of their respective districts, Gwandu emirate and government of Kebbi State.
