Caleb Flynn Convicted In Wife’s Killing After Prosecutors Link Case To Affair

Former American Idol contestant and Ohio music pastor Caleb Flynn has been found guilty of murdering his wife, Ashley Flynn, in a case prosecutors linked to his affair with a younger woman.

Flynn, 40, was convicted on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, on all nine charges against him, including aggravated murder and tampering with evidence. He faces life in prison without parole.

Prosecutors said Flynn shot Ashley twice in the back of the head while she slept at their Tipp City home on February 16. He later called 911 and claimed an intruder had shot his wife.

Flynn was arrested three days later.

The prosecution alleged that he staged the scene to make it appear that an intruder had entered through the garage. Investigators also presented data from his iPhone and Apple Watch, which prosecutors said contradicted his account that he had been asleep before the shooting.

The trial also focused on Flynn’s affair with 24-year-old Alleigha Botner, a former church intern. Prosecutors presented messages between the pair in which Flynn discussed wanting his wife dead.

Botner testified that she now hates Flynn because she believes he murdered Ashley.

The jury deliberated for about two and a half hours before returning guilty verdicts on all charges. Flynn became emotional as the verdict was read.
