APM Calls For National Reset In Nigeria

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has called for a “reset” of Nigeria, saying the country needs a national rebirth to overcome persistent insecurity, economic hardship and governance challenges.

The party made the call in an Independence Day statement issued on Thursday, October 1, 2026, by its National Chairman, Dr Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.

The APM said Nigerians had demonstrated resilience and faith in the country despite what it described as “unprecedented political, economic and social challenges” since independence from Britain in 1960.

The party also paid tribute to Nigeria’s founding fathers, saying their efforts paved the way for the country’s independence.

According to the APM, the anniversary should serve as an opportunity for Nigerians to renew their commitment to building a country that works for all citizens.

“Nigerians have endured enormous hardship due to poor leadership in the midst of abundant human and natural resources,” the party said, arguing that citizens deserved the dividends of democracy rather than what it described as “carnage.”

The APM declared that it was embarking on what it called a “rescue mission” to redirect Nigeria towards “rectitude, progress, development and advancement.”

The party said it believed that a “new, better and greater Nigeria” was possible, adding that the country needed a national rebirth and a renewed commitment to its development.

Looking ahead to the 2027 general election, the APM urged Nigerians to join its “Reset Nigeria Movement” and vote for its candidates across the country.

The party specifically called on voters to support the Makinde/Daura presidential ticket, as well as other APM candidates contesting the 2027 elections.

It also called for credible and transparent elections, insisting that the will of voters must be respected by all stakeholders in the democratic process.

The APM said Nigeria could no longer afford what it described as “gambling with our national destiny,” linking the country’s governance challenges to insecurity and economic hardship.

“The era of gambling with our national destiny is over,” the statement said, adding that Nigerians were facing concerns over personal safety and access to basic necessities.

The party described the 2027 election as an opportunity for voters to choose leaders who would put Nigeria first and move the country away from what it called the status quo that had hindered democratic development.

The APM urged Nigerians to remain united and committed to building a nation founded on unity, peace, progress and development.

“Together, we will reset Nigeria to fulfill its manifest destiny of greatness and prosperity,” the party said.
