Bauchi Govt Invests N3bn On State-Owned Broadcast Stations

Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has disclosed that his administration has invested over N3 billion in the comprehensive overhaul and modernisation of state-owned broadcast stations.

The governor made the disclosure at the 3rd Annual Conference and induction of new members of the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) at the Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre (ICC), Bauchi.

Governor Mohammed, who was represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Auwal Jatau, said the investment was aimed at repositioning the state-owned media organisations to meet the demands of contemporary broadcasting.

He said work was ongoing at the broadcast stations, with state-of-the-art digital broadcasting facilities being installed as part of the government’s efforts to enhance their operations and improve service delivery.

The Governor welcomed members of the SNB to Bauchi, describing the state as the ‘Pearl of Tourism’ and a destination renowned for its rich cultural heritage, diversity and hospitality.

He said his administration was delighted to host professionals whose voices, images and platforms had contributed significantly to shaping public understanding and national discourse over the years.

Mohammed described the annual conference and induction as more than a statutory obligation, saying it provides an opportunity for professional reflection, assessment of achievements, identification of emerging challenges and the development of a responsible path for the future.

He also commended the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters for sustaining a democratic process through which members periodically renew their leadership.

According to him, leadership transition remains one of the clearest tests of the strength, maturity and institutional resilience of any professional body.

The governor urged the newly inducted members and other broadcasting professionals to uphold professionalism, ethical standards and public interest in the discharge of their responsibilities.
