Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Rape Of Minor In Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Zayyanu Halilu, for allegedly raping and impregnating a 12-year-old girl in a vehicle parked around the Airport Bridge Taxi Park, Abuja.

The suspect was arrested on October 2, 2026, by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit who were on routine patrol in the area.

According to the police, the officers became suspicious after noticing a fully tinted navy blue Volkswagen vehicle with registration number KMC567LQ parked at the location, with its windows wound up and the vehicle shaking.

The officers reportedly approached and opened the vehicle, where they allegedly found Halilu sexually assaulting the minor.

The FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the suspect was immediately arrested while the victim was rescued.

Preliminary investigation, according to the command, indicated that the suspect had allegedly lured and sexually abused the girl on several occasions in the same vehicle.

The police further alleged that Halilu threatened to “deal with her” if she disclosed the abuse to anyone.

The police said a medical examination subsequently revealed that the victim was about three months pregnant, which the command said was linked to the alleged abuse.
