The Oyo State Government has declared Monday a work-free day for teachers across the state.
LEADERSHIP reports that this move is to commemorate this year’s Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Day.
The directive was contained in a circular issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
According to the circular, the declaration is intended to enable teachers to participate fully in activities organised to mark the occasion and celebrate their contributions to the state’s education sector.
The government said the decision also provides an opportunity for teachers to reflect on progress in the sector and strengthen unity within the teaching community.
It said the declaration reflects the administration’s commitment to the welfare, dignity and professional development of teachers, describing them as key contributors to human capital development in Oyo State.
The state government congratulated teachers on the occasion and reaffirmed its commitment to policies and programmes aimed at improving teaching and learning across the state.
