The campaign council of a former deputy governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has been inaugurated ahead of the 2027 election for the Imo East Senatorial seat.
The ceremony, helde at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Secretariat, Owerri, attracted political leaders, stakeholders, women and youth groups from the zones.
Performing the inauguration, the PDP national secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, described Madumere as an experienced leader, an embodiment of competence, acumen and dexterity..
Anyanwu added that he is a former deputy governor with the pedigree for delivering his mandate.
Senator Anyanwu explained that the Rainbow Coalition, as piloted by the national leader of PDP, Barr. Nyesom Wike, is an invisible force, with top stakeholders from other political parties working for the actualisation of victory across party affiliations.
He said, “The Rainbow Coalition is here, and other stakeholders in various political parties are working with us to achieve a common purpose.
“We have the best candidates and are set to win convincingly, and we need leaders who can provide employment, human capital development and infrastructure. I know they are planning to rig and we are monitoring them closely. The time for magic has gone. The PDP has resurrected, and I am now a gatekeeper,” Anyanwu said.
Speaking in respect of his governorship ambition, Senator Anyanwu stressed that he is set to succeed Governor Hope Uzodimma at the appropriate time.
According to him, “The devil will be sleeping when I am installed as governor”.
Senator Anyanwu stressed that the party is united in the state, charged members not to run a campaign of calumny, and urged them to support all party candidates.
He said, “Make sure you are doing door- to- door campaign in the state and deliver your candidates”.
He promised to support all the candidates contesting different seats on the party’s platform. In his address, Prince Eze Madumere charged members of the Campaign organisation to work in unity, dedication and commitment to ensure victory for the party at the polls.
He said the campaign council was carefully selected from men and women of proven integrity and grassroots mobilizers who understand the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
Prince Madumere said, “The task ahead is enormous, but with unity of purpose and collective effort, victory is assured. We must go to every ward, every booth and preach our message of hope and good governance,” Madumere said.
He recounted some of the challenges faced by people in the zone, such as insecurity, unemployment, and infrastructure decay, and assured that they would be addressed if elected.
Prince Madumere reiterated his commitment to quality representation, youth empowerment and infrastructural development if elected.
In his comment, the Chairman of the Campaign Council, Chief Tony Ahunanya, commended Prince Madumere for the confidence reposed in them and assured that the Campaign Council will deliver on its mandate.
He assured that the Council will embark on massive mobilisation and sensitisation across all wards in the constituency.
Speaking, the state Chairman of PDP, Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, expressed optimism regarding the capacity of Prince Madumere and other candidates to emerge victorious and deliver dividends of democracy to the citizenry.
He encouraged other political parties not to be afraid, as the Rainbow Coalition has come to stay and will spring surprises.
“It is unfortunate that somebody wants to champion his political party to the detriment of others. We have our strategy, and things will continue to unfold.”
Speaking, Hon Mike Ahumibe, the Southeast zonal Secretary of the PDP, expressed confidence that the party will make a great impact in the Owerri zone and urged all stakeholders and party loyalists to work assiduously to actualise these aspirations.
