Mixed Reactions Trail Wike, Chinda, Fubara Meet In Rivers

Mixed reactions is trailing Tuesday’s meeting between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Hon. Kingsley Chinda and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the meeting, which was part of efforts to consolidate the political reconciliation in the state, was attended by both supporters of Wike and Fubara.

It was the first known occasion Governor Fubara hosted or personally participated in a reconciliation meeting with his supporters, marking a significant development in the efforts to consolidate the emerging political rapprochement in the state.

The engagement follows years of political disagreements that created deep divisions among political actors and supporters, including the prolonged dispute between the Governor and the State House of Assembly.

With tensions now significantly reduced, the latest meeting is being seen as part of efforts to move beyond the differences of the past and build a more coordinated political relationship among the various interests.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP, APC spokesman in the state, Hon. Chibike Ikenga, said the meeting was part of mobilisation, consensus building and inclusion as well as stronger strategy to defeat all other opposition parties in the state.

Ikenga: “It is part of mobilisation, it is part of engagement, it is part of consensus building. It is part of inclusion, it is part of building a stronger strategy to defeat all other opposition parties in the state. The Rainbow Coalition is doing marvellously well and we are ready to defeat every opposition party. You can see all the rebuilding going on and all the reconciliation efforts. Take this, give me this. You know, you can’t win everything; you win some, you lose some.

“We are joyous because we are achieving everything that we set out to achieve and all our candidates will be returned. We will win fair and square in the most credible and transparent election come 2027.”

Also speaking with LEADERSHIP, APC youth leader in the South-East senatorial district, Hon. Innocent Ajaelu, said the meeting was a welcome development for the political stability in Rivers State.

Ajaelu said: “Wike is playing the real politics of the time. It is a welcome development for the political stability in Rivers State and to achieve seamless results for the 2027 election.

“I commend Wike for the initiative called Rainbow Coalition and Governor Fubara for all he has been doing to make sure that peace returns to Rivers State. Posterity will not have a good day with him if he leaves Rivers State in chaos politically.”
