2027 Lagos Guber: Usman Charges LP Members To Unite To Win Lagos

The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Senator Nenadi Usman, has charged members of the party in Lagos State to close ranks and unite to win the 2027 governorship election in the state.

The party’s national publicity secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa, in a statement issued on Friday, said Usman gave the charge at the campaign flag-off of the party’s governorship candidate, Rotimi Odunaike, saying unity remains the only pathway to electoral success.

She warned that a house divided against itself cannot stand, stressing that the party must avoid internal wrangling capable of undermining its chances at the polls.

“I charge you to surpass the feat the Labour Party recorded in 2023. I am certain that, with unity of purpose, you can achieve this because the Labour Party is a party of the grassroots in Lagos State,” she declared.

The campaign flag-off witnessed pomp and pageantry as the city of Ikeja stood still for the Labour Party and its candidate.

Odunaike, who is flying the party’s flag alongside his running mate, Prince Lateef Adenkule Adele, pledged to build “A New Lagos For All” if elected governor.

He lamented that since the return of democracy in 1999, Lagos has worked for a privileged few who have held the state captive since the inception of the Fourth Republic.

The governorship candidate decried the decay of infrastructure and lack of adequate social amenities across the state, promising to begin fixing them from his first day in office.

The event also featured the public presentation of his 162-page campaign manifesto titled Our Covenant With the People of Lagos, which outlines steps to tackle the state’s challenges.

According to Asogwa, Odunaike is a banking and finance expert and entrepreneur with accomplishments in agriculture, technology and artificial intelligence, and a former Lagos chairman who reconciled warring factions and repositioned the party for electoral success.
