A raging fire has reportedly destroyed several buildings in Agbor, the headquarters of the Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, raising concerns about the extent of the damage.
Although details of the incident remain sketchy, the fire reportedly broke out after a petrol tanker ruptured and spilt its contents following a collision with another vehicle.
The spilt petroleum product allegedly flowed through a drainage channel into the Orogodo River before catching fire under unclear circumstances.
The inferno reportedly spread rapidly along the drainage channel from the river towards the scene of the incident near the Anglican Church, beside Orogodo Primary School, causing widespread destruction.
A source confirmed that several buildings had been consumed by the fire, including the popular Festy Chemist medical store and adjoining structures.
