Three PDP Chieftains Die In Kaduna Road Crash

Three chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have died in a fatal road accident along the Kaduna-Kachia Road in Kaduna State.

The accident occurred around Makyali village and involved the party’s Secretary in Jema’a Local Government Area, Comrade Caleb I. Lot, the PDP Women Leader, Comrade Comfort, and other party members.

Dr Sale Pashi, Chairman of the PDP Chairmen Forum, Zone 3, Kaduna State, announced the incident in a statement on Wednesday, disclosing that three persons, including the Jema’a LGA secretary, died instantly.

Pashi expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as one of the darkest and most heartbreaking moments for Jema’a Local Government Area, Zone 3 and the entire PDP family in Kaduna State.

He described the deceased as loyal, dedicated and committed party members whose contributions and sacrifices towards the growth of the PDP would remain cherished.

According to him, their deaths represent an irreplaceable loss, particularly at the grassroots level, where they played significant roles in the party’s political activities and development.

“The tragedy is a painful reminder of the fragility of human life and the immeasurable sorrow that accompanies the loss of loved ones,” Pashi said.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the PDP State Chairmen Forum has threatened to take action against governors accused of harassing, intimidating and killing the party’s candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The forum warned that it would no longer tolerate attacks on its candidates, insisting that political contests must not be used as an excuse for violence, intimidation or murder.

Chairman of the forum, Austin Nwachukwu, issued the warning on Tuesday during a meeting between the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) and state chairmen at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Nwachukwu disclosed that the forum had intervened in Ebonyi State over alleged intimidation, harassment, arrests and killings of PDP candidates, accusing the state government of allowing the situation to persist.

He said the forum was submitting a petition to the Inspector-General of Police and other relevant security agencies over the alleged attacks.

“The killings and harassment of our candidates and governorship candidates, especially in various states of the country, must stop,” he said.

“The forum will not take it lightly anymore if any of our candidates are harassed, intimidated or killed because of mere elections. It’s a contest. Winner must emerge.”

Nwachukwu expressed concern that some governors were allegedly antagonising PDP candidates despite the party’s efforts to produce candidates for the forthcoming elections.

He also pledged the state chairmen’s support for the party’s national leadership, assuring that they were committed to working towards the PDP’s victory in 2027.

According to him, 36 state chairmen, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), attended the meeting, describing their presence as a demonstration of their commitment to the party.

In his remarks, PDP National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, said the party’s internal processes would continue to be guided by its constitution and established traditions, including caucus meetings and expanded national meetings.

Mohammed commended the state chairmen for conducting nomination processes for aspirants seeking election into state assemblies, the House of Representatives, the Senate and governorship positions across the 36 states.

He said the NWC would work with other party organs to secure victory for the PDP in the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that the party’s performance would contribute to the country’s progress.

The national chairman also appreciated members of the NWC for their support and urged them to remain united as the party prepares for the elections.
