Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have recovered a 2012 black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado with Reg. No. ABJ 670 EY, which was stolen at a gunpoint in Lugbe axis of Abuja on Thursday about three hours after it was snatched.
The car was stolen from Engr. Kemi Adidiru whereas she was driving from Lugbe to the town middle after being abruptly stopped and surrounded by six armed males underneath a pedestrian bridge in Alieta on the Airport Highway.
Giving the small print of what occurred, the FCT Police PRO, SP Josephine Adeh, mentioned, “On November 21, 2024, at roughly 8:00 PM, the FCT Police Command obtained a misery name from Samaritan reporting a carjacking incident. Engr. Kemi Adidiru was driving from Lugbe to the town middle when she was abruptly stopped and surrounded by six armed males underneath a pedestrian bridge alongside Alieta Highway, Lugbe.
“The robbers forcefully ejected each her and her driver from her car—a 2012 black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (Reg. No. ABJ 670 EY)—and sped off with the automotive and her belongings at gunpoint.
“The witness, alarmed by the theft, promptly notified the FCT Police Command Management Room, offering essential details about the car and the suspects’ route of escape. The police acted shortly, alerting strategic checkpoints and deploying patrol groups throughout the FCT.
“At roughly 11:35 PM, police operatives noticed the stolen car at a checkpoint alongside Dantata Bridge, Galadimawa Highway. When officers tried to cease the suspects, they sped away, resulting in a high-speed chase in direction of Airport Junction. Upon reaching one other police checkpoint on the airport junction, the suspects opened hearth, partaking the police in a fierce gun battle. Because of the superior firepower of the police, the suspects deserted the car and their firearm, fleeing into the encompassing bushes.”
The police additional said that, “the car was efficiently recovered, together with a bag containing a global passport belonging to Engr. Halimat Adediru, money, and different valuables.
