JUST ARRIVED: Atiku, Mark, Lamido, others attend closed-door meeting

Prominent leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party Party (PDP) including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark, former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, and others, on Tuesday evening held a critical closed-door meeting at Abuja.

While the agenda of the meeting, which took place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, is yet to be released, it came less than 24 hours after members of the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) met and endorsed the reinstatement of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s National Secretary.

However, there are indications that the ongoing consultations could be related to the nascent Alliance Movement to contest President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Other PDP leaders present at the meeting included former PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus; former Governors Aminu Tambuwal Sokoto, Liyele Imoke (Cross River), Babangida Aliyu Niger and Sam Egwu (Ebonyi); and Chief Tom Ikimi.

Recall that Mark is likely to be the Acting National Chairman of the Agricultural Democratic Congress (ADC), which is also seen as a possible coalition platform.

Others present included former National Organising Secretary, Senator Austin Akobondu; former Acting PDP National Secretary, Senator Ben Obi; former PDP National Women’s Leader, Josephine Anenyi; former National Press Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan; and former National Youth Leader, Abdullahi Mebasira, among others.
