JUST ARRIVED: Dalori resumes as APC Acting Chairman, chairs NWC meeting

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, on Monday resumed his duties as the party’s Acting National Chairman.

President Bola Tinubu directed Dalori to chair the NWC meeting following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and take over as the APC Acting National Chairman until the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting is convened immediately to fill the vacancy created by Ganduje’s resignation on Friday.

The APC Acting National Chairman, who assumed office on Monday, then chaired the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting.

Dalori said his appointment was not a personal victory but a responsibility he had assumed in full awareness of the challenges ahead and the expectations of millions of APC members and supporters across the country.

He said the transition period was a time of consolidation rather than conflict, division, and of vision rather than personal ambition, and called on members of the NWC to give their support.

“We must focus on the big picture: delivering good governance for the Nigerian people, deepening intra-party democracy, and preparing for the future with clarity of thought and resolve. As we move towards 2027, we must start now by strengthening our internal processes, reconnecting with the grassroots, and reinvigorating our institutions at all levels.”

“I would also like to take this opportunity to express, on behalf of this Council, our unwavering support for President Ahmed Tinubu’sBola bold reform agenda. The ‘Agenda for Rekindling Hope’ is more than just a campaign slogan, it is a living roadmap that is already addressing the fundamental challenges facing our economy, security, and national cohesion. The NWC remains the political vehicle to drive this transformation, and we will fully support the President with our loyalty and partnership.”

“I urge all Party members and stakeholders to remain united. Political transitions often bring uncertainty, but we must not allow them to breed disunity. We must avoid words and actions that divide us, and instead focus on what unites us – our shared belief in the future of Nigeria and the APC.”

“We are all aware of the significant contribution Dr. Ganduje made during his tenure. He has provided our party with experienced leadership, unwavering commitment and clear direction since he assumed office in August 2023.” Dalori said: “On behalf of the APC family, I would like to express my sincere gratitude and wish him a speedy recovery, good health and all the best.”

Earlier, the party’s National Secretary, Senator Suraj Ajibola, formally submitted the resignation of former National Chairman Ganduje to the NWC at a meeting of the NWC.

“The resignation was formally tendered and ably seconded.” And in accordance with Section 14 of our Constitution, we also request the Deputy National Chairman of the NWC, Honourable Ali Bukar Dalori, to assume the office of Acting National Chairman until the post of National Chairman is filled by the National Executive Committee of the party. “On behalf of the NWC, I present to you the Honourable… Ali Bukar Dalori as the Acting National Chairman of the NWC,” Ajibola said.
