The All Progressives Congress (APC) has introduced its determination to undertake the Consensus Mode for the conduct of its governorship main election in Ekiti state.
APC Nationwide Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, disclosed this in a press release issued in Abuja on Tuesday.
He mentioned the change from the sooner agreed direct main election to consensus mode of main was necessitated by the voluntary withdrawal of one of many two cleared aspirants, Mrs Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo.
“In a letter to the Party, Mrs Omolayo conveyed her determination to withdraw from the competition and endorse His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, as a consensus candidate, and expressed her help for any association adopted by the Party in nominating its flag bearer in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2022 and the Party’s Structure,” Morka mentioned.
He added that the choice had been duly transmitted by the Party to the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC), vide a letter dated October 13, 2025.
“Having glad the necessities stipulated underneath Sections 84(9) and (11) of the Electoral Act 2022, for the consensus mode of main election, the Party has permitted the timetable of actions for the nomination congress as follows:
“Delegate Congress – Saturday, twenty fifth October, 2025. Delegate Congress Appeal – Sunday, twenty sixth October, 2025. Particular Nomination Congress to Ratify the Consensus Candidate – Monday, twenty seventh October, 2025.
“The occasion commends Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo for her spirit of sportsmanship, and dedication to occasion unity and progress.
“We urge all leaders, members and stakeholders of our nice Party in Ekiti state to face united and work assiduously for the Party’s victory within the June 2026 Governorship Election,” the assertion mentioned.
