Immediate past National Vice Chairman(North East) of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Dr Mustapha Salihu, has said he is prepared for either consensus or direct primaries in his quest to clinch the party’s governorship ticket for Adamawa state ahead of the 2027 general election.
Salihu stated this while addressing journalists after he submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms for APC governorship primary election in Abuja.
The former APC national vice chairman-North East, also said he is not scared of any candidate seeking to govern the north eastern state.
Salihu stated that he was in the race to consolidate on the giant strides and complete the legacy projects embarked upon by the present governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri.
Asked how sure he was of getting APC governorship ticket for Adamawa, he said: “in the game of politics, there is nothing like being sure or not being sure.
“It’s a game of luck and luck as defined by most scholars is when preparation meets opportunity. I’m prepared, and I have the opportunity to run, so by the grace of God, luck is on my side.
“So I’m very optimistic that God’s willing, by His support and the support of the people of Adamawa State, I will claim this ticket. We prepare for both direct primaries and consensus. We are ready.
“What I’m going to bring on board, first of all, is continuity. Because our governor has done wonderfully well. All of us know Adamawa state in the last seven years, he has transformed the state.
“A lot of projects cannot be achieved within eight years. There are some projects that are landmark, that you can take 15, 18, 19, 20 years for you to achieve. These are the kind of legacy projects we are going to continue and ensure we achieve.
“We are going to broaden lines between tribes, between religions, to ensure that we work as one people because without unity progress is always very slow.
“We are going to get unity and ensure that we speed the progress and we build on what the governor has done already… I want to believe that we are not scared of any candidate.”
