2027: Gov Eno Assures Free, Fair APC Primaries In Akwa Ibom

As primaries for the nomination of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates commence, Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has assured party loyalists that the exercise in the state will be transparent, free, and fair.

Addressing people of his local government area, Nsit Ubium, during a special consultation visit held at the home of the area’s political leader, Senator Effiong Bob, the governor said the state has remained peaceful and must sustain that peace during and after the exercise.

Governor Eno expressed appreciation to Senator Bob and the people of the area for their support and cooperation, particularly for speaking with one voice ahead of the primaries and the 2027 general elections.

“I consider it most expedient for me to see and notify my people officially of my intention to go for a second term as governor in the year 2027.

“As you will support me, we will also support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates,” he added.

He stressed that, given the current political atmosphere in the state, the party primaries scheduled to commence on Friday, May 15, 2026, would be smooth and devoid of hitches.

The governor urged party members to approach the primaries with decorum and a strong sense of responsibility, warning that the peace of the state must not be sacrificed for personal or group interests.

He also appealed for respect for party leadership at all levels and encouraged members to turn out at their ward centres to participate fully in the primaries to ensure a successful exercise.

In his remarks, Senator Bob commended the governor for what he described as impactful leadership over the past three years, adding that the people of the area were proud of his performance.

He also praised the unity and collective support for the Eno administration, describing it as a reflection of quality leadership and governance.

In separate remarks, Rt. Hon. Otobong Bob, Commissioner for Trade and Investments, Captain Iniobong Ekong, Local Government Chairman Hon. Alfred Charles, State APC Vice Chairman Mr. Aniekan Ekpo, and others also lauded the governor’s leadership, citing landmark projects and pledging continued support from party members across the state.
