Liverpoolanagwe Arne Slot believes Arsenal have what it takes to finish ahead of Manchester City and win the Premier League title this season.
The Liverpool manager made the remarks during his pre-match press conference ahead of Friday’s league encounter against Aston Villa, where he discussed the ongoing title race involving Arsenal and City.
With only two matches left in the campaign, Arsenal currently sit two points above Manchester City at the top of the table. The Gunners are hoping to secure their first league crown since 2004, while City remain determined to continue their recent dominance under Pep Guardiola.
Slot singled out Arsenal’s defensive discipline as the key factor that could deliver the title to North London.
“The team that is going to win the league, at least I assume, I think Arsenal is going to win the league,” Slot said.
“Arsenal is a team that has large spells in a game where they have to defend in a low block, and they do that really well.”
The Dutchman explained that Arsenal’s ability to remain compact and organised defensively has given them a significant advantage over many opponents this season.
“By the way, that’s also one of the reasons why they will go on to win the league,” he added.
Arsenal’s defensive record has been among the strongest in the division this season, with Mikel Arteta’s side consistently combining defensive solidity with attacking efficiency.
The title race is expected to go down to the final day, with supporters across England anticipating another dramatic finish between two of the country’s top sides.
