JAMB Warns UTME, Direct Entry Candidates Against Profile Errors

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has warned prospective candidates for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry registration against making errors when creating their JAMB profiles.

The Board said seemingly minor mistakes at the profile creation stage, particularly in candidates’ names and dates of birth, could lead to serious complications during the admission process.

JAMB gave the warning in a new advisory video released under its “JAMB Explained” series and shared on its X handle on Wednesday.

The advisory, targeted at fresh candidates, urged applicants to carefully verify their personal information before creating their profiles.

The Board said candidates should confirm that their names, dates of birth and other details linked to their National Identification Number are accurate before proceeding with registration.

According to JAMB, the information used for candidates’ profiles is obtained from records maintained by the National Identity Management Commission and cannot be created or altered by the Board.

It explained that any error in a candidate’s name or date of birth could therefore become difficult to correct after registration.

JAMB also cautioned candidates against assuming that obtaining an affidavit would automatically result in the correction of their records with the Board.

The Board stressed that candidates’ identity details form the basis of their admission records and must be accurate from the outset.

It consequently urged prospective UTME and Direct Entry candidates to thoroughly verify their personal information before creating their JAMB profiles and commencing registration.
