The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Aliyu Umar Yusuf, has commended members of the All Progressives Congress in Lokoja II for the peaceful conduct of Monday’s Kogi West Senatorial primary election.
Speaking shortly after the conclusion of the exercise at his Kakanda Ward, where the process was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Speaker praised party faithful for their orderly conduct and impressive turnout during the primary.
Yusuf said the large turnout recorded during the exercise reflected the level of awareness and mobilisation carried out ahead of the primaries.
He stressed the importance of continuous voter education, noting that party members and the electorate must understand the significance of participating actively in the democratic process.
The Speaker also urged APC supporters to remain steadfast and committed throughout the remaining stages of the party primaries, reminding them that the responsibility of choosing credible candidates rests with them.
He advised party members to carefully assess the track records and antecedents of aspirants seeking to fly the party’s flag in future elections.
Yusuf further stated that the achievements of the administration of Ahmed Usman Ododo had strengthened public confidence in the APC-led government in Kogi State.
He expressed appreciation to the governor for what he described as wise leadership and commitment to the development of the state.
The Speaker assured the APC leadership that the people of Lokoja II and Lokoja Local Government Area would continue to support the party in future elections.
