Governor Yusuf Says Kawu Sumaila’s Endorsement Signals APC Victory In Kano South

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has said the endorsement of Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila by stakeholders in Kano South signals an impending victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the zone and across the state.

The governor made the assertion at a grand endorsement rally held on Monday at Rano Town Stadium, where party leaders and supporters formally adopted Sumaila as the APC’s sole candidate for Kano South.

The event was attended by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, Yusuf described the endorsement as a reflection of unity within the party, coming on the heels of reconciliation between Sumaila and Alhassan Rurum.

He assured residents of sustained delivery of development projects, noting that his administration had designed “gigantic programmes” targeting youth empowerment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor also announced key federal-oriented projects for the area, including the planned conversion of the Rano Rural and Community Development Institute into a Federal Polytechnic of Technology, and the upgrade of Rano General Hospital to a Federal Medical Centre.

According to him, the initiatives would fast-track socio-economic growth in Kano South, while the relocation of the existing community development institute to Takai Constituency would broaden access to education.

Yusuf further commended the growing acceptance of the “Kano First” agenda, describing it as central to restoring the state’s values and strengthening unity.

He lauded party stakeholders for a peaceful endorsement process and expressed confidence in the APC’s chances in future polls, pledging support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all party candidates.

In their remarks, Sumaila, Rurum and Alhassan Doguwa reaffirmed loyalty to the governor, assuring that Kano South would deliver victory for the APC in 2027.

Other dignitaries at the event included the Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, and APC representatives.
