Radda Invests N120bn, Builds 170 Schools To Boost Education, Human Capital

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has disclosed that his administration invested more than N120 billion in the education sector and built 170 junior secondary schools across Katsina State within three years, as part of efforts to expand access to quality education and strengthen human capital development.

The governor made this known in a document issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, highlighting achievements recorded under the administration’s “Building Your Future” programme as it marks its third anniversary in office.

According to the report, education remains one of the sectors receiving the highest level of funding and attention under the Radda administration.

In addition to constructing the 170 junior secondary schools in communities that previously lacked such facilities, the government also rehabilitated 300 schools and renovated 150 primary schools across the state.

“We constructed 170 junior secondary schools in communities that previously had none. We rehabilitated 300 schools and renovated 150 primary schools. We established ICT and Computer-Based Test centres in both rural and urban communities because a child in the village deserves the same digital access as a child in the city,” Radda said.

The governor also highlighted the establishment of model and smart secondary schools in Radda, Jikamshi and Dumurkul across the state’s three senatorial districts.

According to him, the schools are equipped with robotics laboratories, artificial intelligence centres, internet connectivity and 24-hour electricity supply to provide students with world-class learning opportunities.

He said the facilities were designed to bridge educational gaps between urban and rural communities and ensure children from less privileged backgrounds have access to quality education.

The report further stated that the administration has sponsored students on foreign scholarships, increased student allowances and ensured prompt payment of bursaries, while also prioritising teachers’ welfare through regular salary payments and professional development programmes.

Radda described education as one of the most enduring investments any government can make, stressing that the benefits of the interventions would continue to impact future generations.

“Education is one of the cardinal areas where we have invested the most and where we believe our impact will last the longest,” he said.
