The convener of Operation Rebuilding the Broken Walls, Apostle Dr Paul Akinselure, has expressed concern over the worsening insecurity and governance challenges in Nigeria, saying recent developments had left many citizens questioning the country’s direction.
Speaking on the state of the nation in Abuja yesterday, Akinselure said the growing incidence of violence, kidnappings and other criminal activities had made life increasingly difficult for many Nigerians.
According to him, citizens no longer feel safe in their homes, schools, hospitals and highways, while the value of human life appears to be diminishing amid rising insecurity.
He lamented that students, teachers, healthcare workers and patients now face security threats in places that should ordinarily be safe, adding that travelling across parts of the country has become a source of anxiety for many people.
Akinselure also criticised the country’s political leadership, accusing public office holders of paying inadequate attention to the welfare and security of citizens. He condemned a situation where many leaders are more focused on political power and personal interests than on addressing the nation’s pressing challenges.
The cleric warned that the situation was deteriorating and called on Nigerians to take a more active interest in efforts to promote good governance, accountability, and national development.
“Every reasonable and responsible person can see that the country is facing serious challenges. The insecurity, loss of lives and other troubling developments require urgent and meaningful action from both leaders and citizens,” he said.
He urged the government at all levels to demonstrate greater commitment to tackling insecurity and improving the living conditions of Nigerians, stressing that decisive action was needed to restore public confidence and national stability.
