A delegation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Sunday, June 14, 2026, visited the family of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar and the Katsina State Government to offer condolences on his passing.
The delegation was led by the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General IM Abdullahi. He was accompanied by other senior officers.
Abdullahi conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General OO Oluyede, and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to the bereaved family and the government of Katsina State.
Addressing the late General’s family, Abdullahi described the deceased as a dedicated and patriotic officer who served the nation with distinction for over three decades in various capacities.
“Major General Abubakar served the Nigerian Army and the nation meritoriously for over three decades. His years of dedicated service and sacrifice will not be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” Abdullahi said.
The delegation presented a National Flag to the family in honour of the late senior officer’s service and reaffirmed the military’s support during this difficult period.
Responding on behalf of the family, Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, the Gado da Masun Katsina, thanked the CDS and the Armed Forces for the visit and support.
“On behalf of the entire family, the good people of Batsari Local Government Area, and indeed Katsina State, we sincerely thank the Chief of Defence Staff and the Armed Forces of Nigeria for standing by us, especially during this trying period,” Ruma said.
The delegation first paid a courtesy visit to the Katsina State Government House, where they were received by the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Mallam Faruk Lawal Jobe, who stood in for the Governor.
Abdullahi conveyed the condolences of the CDS and the Armed Forces to the Governor, the government, and the people of Katsina State over the loss of their illustrious son.
In response, Deputy Governor Jobe described the death of Major General Rabe as a painful loss not only to Katsina State but to the nation at large.
He noted that the late General’s commitment to national service and security would remain a source of inspiration to future generations.
