Islamic New Year: Gov. Yusuf Urges Muslims To Uphold Lessons Of Hijrah Week

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has congratulated Muslims in the state, Nigeria and across the world on the commencement of the Islamic New Year, 1448AH, urging them to uphold the lessons of sacrifice, patience and faith embedded in the Hijrah.

The governor, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, said the Islamic New Year offers an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on their responsibilities and renew their commitment to righteousness, peace and unity.

Governor Yusuf described the migration of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) from Makkah to Madinah as a historic event that transcended physical movement, noting that it marked the foundation of a society built on justice, compassion, brotherhood and service to humanity.

He urged citizens to draw inspiration from the spirit of Hijrah by promoting tolerance, rejecting division and embracing values that strengthen peaceful coexistence.

According to him, the challenges facing society require collective commitment to unity, compassion and shared responsibility for community development.

The governor appreciated the people of Kano State for their continued support and cooperation with his administration, assuring them of his government’s determination to deliver sustainable development and improve the wellbeing of citizens.

He said the administration would continue to prioritise key sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment, women development, agriculture and social welfare.

Governor Yusuf also called on religious leaders, traditional institutions and community stakeholders to intensify efforts in promoting moral values and guiding young people towards integrity, hard work and patriotism.

He prayed for peace and stability across Kano State and Nigeria, urging citizens to seek divine guidance as the country tackles emerging challenges.

The governor expressed optimism that with faith, perseverance and unity, Kano would continue to record greater progress and development.

He prayed that Allah (SWT) blesses the new Islamic year, accepts the worship of the Muslim Ummah and grants Nigeria peace, prosperity and abundant blessings.
