The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, and the party’s National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, have criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government in Ekiti State, accusing it of poor performance ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The duo made the remarks on Thursday during the ADC mega rally in Ado-Ekiti in support of the party’s governorship candidate, Ambassador Dare Bejide.
Addressing party supporters, Mark urged Ekiti residents to vote for Bejide, describing the ADC as the credible alternative capable of transforming the state.
“Vote for our candidate, Dare Bejide, so that the Ekiti of your dreams can become a reality. Give your votes to the ADC,” he said.
He further urged residents to rally behind the party, insisting that Bejide and the ADC remained the best option to rescue the state from poverty and deliver good governance.
In his address, Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State, said the APC administration in Ekiti had failed to meet the expectations of the people, arguing that Governor Biodun Oyebanji did not deserve re-election.
He dismissed claims that the ADC lacked the strength to challenge the ruling party, maintaining that the party’s popularity would be tested at the polls on Saturday.
“We will meet at the polls. The APC has failed at the three tiers of government. They may underestimate the opposition because of appearances, but that assumption will prove costly,” Aregbesola said.
He expressed confidence that the ADC would emerge victorious if the election was conducted in a free and fair manner, alleging that the ruling party could only retain power through electoral manipulation.
Aregbesola also commended women for their active participation in the electoral process and urged them to vote massively for the ADC while ensuring that their votes counted.
