The Police in Kano State have detained a popular female TikTok personality, Fati Cele, following the death of her boyfriend, Isma’il Makaye, at her residence under circumstances that are currently being investigated.
Fati Cele, who is originally from Borno State, lives in a rented apartment in the Danbare area of Kano and has built a significant online presence, with more than 32,000 followers on TikTok.
Sources told Arewa Updates that the incident came to light after the social media influencer allegedly emerged from her house shouting that there was a fire, prompting neighbours to rush to the scene.
According to one of the sources, “When people entered the house, they found Isma’il with burn injuries and traces of blood on his body.”
The sources added that residents immediately rushed Makaye to Nassarawa Hospital in a bid to save his life, but he later died from his injuries.
The sources further disclosed that officers attached to the Dorayi Babba Police Division subsequently took Cele into custody as part of an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Makaye, a cosmetics trader who lived in the Hotoro Tishama area of Kano, was later buried at Unguwa Uku Yan Awaki after his remains were released to his family for funeral rites, according to associates.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Police Command was yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
