Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested a suspected traffic robber, Yahuza Sani, for terrorising motorists in Abuja.

The suspect was apprehended on Saturday, June 21, 2026, during a routine anti-crime patrol conducted by operatives attached to the Central Police Station (CPS) near the National Hospital, Abuja.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrest occurred at about 7:00 p.m. when undercover police operatives intercepted the suspect while he was allegedly attempting to rob a female victim of her valuables.

SP Adeh said the operatives had been strategically deployed to the area following reports of increasing traffic robberies targeting unsuspecting motorists and commuters.

She also said items recovered from the suspects included three mobile phones, a dagger and a motorcycle allegedly used in criminal operations around Abuja.

“A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of three mobile phones, one dagger and one motorcycle used in the commission of the crime,” she stated.

The FCT Police spokesperson disclosed that one suspected accomplice managed to escape during the operation and remained at large at press time. She added that efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.

She added that the arrested suspect is currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The FCT Police Command urged residents to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by providing timely and credible information that could assist in combating crime across the Federal Capital Territory.

The Command also encouraged members of the public to report suspicious activities through the nearest police station or its emergency phone lines: 08032003913 and 07057337653.
