ADC Vice Presidential Candidate Amaechi Loses Mother

The Vice Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, has lost his mother, Mrs. Mary Amaechi.

Amaechi’s media office announced her death in a statement on Thursday.

The statement said, “Late Mrs. Mary Amaechi was a cherished matriarch who held her family together in love, peace and unity. She was a community women leader and Christian leader, whose belief and faith in God was firm and resolute. She was loved and highly respected in her community, and will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support for those around her and beyond.”

It added that Amaechi and the entire family were grateful for the support they had received since the news of her passing.

“Rt Hon. Amaechi and the entire family are profoundly grateful for the outpouring of condolences and love already being shown them during this difficult time,” the statement said.

The family also announced that details of the funeral arrangements would be made public in due course while appealing for continued prayers and support from friends, supporters and well-wishers.

Amaechi’s loss comes just days after the ADC governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, also announced the death of his mother, Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour, with both families asking for prayers as they mourn their loved ones.
