According to him, one of the kidnappers found the phone while Oyedokun was riding on a motorcycle and reported the incident to the group’s leader, who allegedly ordered his execution as punishment for disobedience.
He said the mathematics teacher was taken away the following day, while the remaining captives could hear him crying out for help before his voice suddenly went silent.
He further disclosed that Olaleye was later taken away and killed on June 7 after the kidnappers accused security forces of moving too close to their camp despite previous warnings.
Olatunde said neither of the two victims was killed in the presence of the other captives, as each was taken to a separate location before being murdered.
Describing life in captivity, Olatunde said the abductees were kept in tents throughout their stay in the forest, with their hands handcuffed, legs chained and blindfolds covering their eyes most of the time.
He said they had to seek permission before attending to basic needs and were frequently moved from one location to another within the forest.
Olatunde also recalled that the adult male captives were often beaten with gun butts and punished for actions attributed to the children.
He revealed that the kidnappers prohibited Christians from praying or mentioning the name of Jesus, warning that anyone caught doing so would be severely beaten.
He added that the group claimed it was not interested in collecting ransom but instead demanded the release of some of its members who had been arrested by security agencies.
Olatunde also revealed that the kidnappers’ attitude changed after the killing of Olaleye, saying they became less hostile after learning that some of their own family members had been arrested by soldiers.
He said the abductors even asked the captives to bathe before leaving the camp on the day of their release, but they declined because they were eager to leave the forest.
Olatunde further explained that after arriving in Ibadan, military authorities showed him photographs of suspected kidnappers, and he was able to identify one of those who had held them captive.
