A joint security team successfully repelled a terrorist attack in the Hong local government area of Adamawa state.
SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement on Wednesday, said the combined security team comprising operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command, troops of the 144 Battalion, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) repelled a terrorist attack at Garaha Village in the early hours of Sunday.
He stressed that the joint team responded promptly, engaged the attackers, and forced them to retreat toward the Sambisa Forest, thereby averting further attacks and protecting the affected community.
During the operation, one offensive weapon was recovered from the fleeing terrorists.
The area has since returned to normalcy, while joint security personnel have sustained operations to maintain peace, enhance security, and prevent any further breach.
The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, Kabiru Umar Hassan, commended the bravery, professionalism, and synergy among the security agencies.
He reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements and activities to the nearest security agency.
